ACReSAL stakeholders Engagement on catchment management plan Development commences in Kano.

Borno state project management unit SPMU with its key stakeholders were fully represented at the occasion which took place at Tahir Guest palace.

The stakeholder’s engagement was organised by Federal project management unit (FPMU) of ACReSAL in conjunction with Mecon Geology and Engineering service Ltd.

Speaking earlier, the National project Coordinator of Agro-Climatic Resilience in semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Abdulhamid Umar who was represented by Dr Dahiru Muhammed project Coordinator Kano ACReSAL said the engagement focus on interacting with strategic stakeholders in five states: Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Kano and Jigawa states.

The NPC further said that the plan will integrate socioeconomic needs and address other critical challenges to natural ecosystems, adding that the plan will facilitate ACReSAL Project Development objective (PDO) to restore 1 million hectares of degraded land, benefiting 3.4 million direct beneficiaries.

Speaking also, the managing Director of Mecon Geology and Engineering service Ltd, Mr Chuka J.Offofile said the engagement is designed to gather inputs from the five riparian states in order to tackle the challenges bedevilling the states.

e stakeholder’s engagement is one of its kind and was optimistic that the plan would no doubt address the challenges faced by communities along the basin.
