Borno Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has commenced pre- RAP engagement for Ngamdu civil works implementation.
The Project Affected Persons (PAP) were also sensitise for them to be prepared to receive the contingent of the people for the implementation of RAP proper.
Speaking at the occasion, the representative of the Project Coordinator, Engr. Babagana Ladan, commended and thanked the PAPs for their patience and resilience for staying this long without receiving their legitimate compensation.
He emphasised that RAP is compensation for individuals whose properties have been affected directly as a result of the construction of Drainages within Ngamdu town and also for the vulnerable whose livelihoods have been affected by same.
He therefore employed on the people not to interpret it as palliative and begin to go on a wild goose chase. He assured that the implementation team are going to be in Ngamdu anytime of the coming week.
Also speaking at the occasion, Engr. Umar Luskirima the Environmental Officer also said they were here sometimes back on the orders of the Project Coordinator to review the list and confirm the affected properties in order to ascertain whether there are some properties missing on the list of PAPs or not.
He continued that, their Findings had revealed that there were some few items missing out in the list while a lot of vulnerable are not considered too.
He assured them that the new list had been updated and included on the PAPs list.
Also contributing at the occasion, the Monitoring and Evaluation officer Bukar Madu Goba also appealed to the PAPs that, they are as much as possible expected to spend the compensation on meaningful investments.
He emphasised further that Borno ACReSAL will be coming back after sometimes for reassessment of the PAPs on the impact the compensation has had on them and they will be rewarded for adding value on the amount received.
He urged them to utilise the amount very well and make it a source for their positive growth and development.
While making his own contribution, the FoNGO Consultant Dr. Ngare Dogo Saje expressed his delight over the RAP implementation which is some days away and he told the attendees that he had completed opening of the accounts for all those who until now did not have accounts. He emphasised that the RAP compensation is going to be made into PAPs account directly. Since all the PAPs now have their individual accounts, all of their accounts will be credited individually. He thanked the World Bank and ACReSAL for their considerations and H. E. (Prof.) Babagana Umara Zulum mni FNSE for bringing ACReSAL to Ngamdu in order to solve their problems which has been lingering for decades.
