Today, the Conservator of Park for Chad Basin National Park in Borno and Yobe states, Jimoh Bolanle Oladosu, made a courtesy visit to the Borno Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) office.
During this visit, he commended the ACReSAL project for its ongoing support and collaboration in environmental sustainability initiatives.
In his address, Conservator of park ( CP)Jimoh Bolanle Oladosu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the ACReSAL team for the significant contributions made towards enhancing the operational capabilities of their park management.
He specifically acknowledged the generous donation of a vehicle from the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU), which is expected to greatly improve their field operations and ability to address ecological concerns effectively.
“The support from ACReSAL will play a crucial role in strengthening sustainability initiatives in both Borno and Yobe states,” Oladosu remarked.
Mr. Ayuba Peter, the Project Coordinator for Borno ACReSAL, followed with remarks highlighting that the ACReSAL project, supported by the World Bank, is dedicated to tackling critical environmental challenges impacting Northern Nigeria, including issues of desertification and climate change.
Peter expressed appreciation for the Conservator’s visit and reiterated ACReSAL’s commitment to collaboration.
He also emphasized the need for intensified efforts against wildlife trafficking, which poses a serious threat to the region’s biodiversity. “If we do not address animal trafficking, we risk the extinction of many species of wildlife,” he noted.
This visit marks a significant step towards reinforcing partnerships aimed at environmental sustainability and the protection of natural resources in Northern Nigeria.
