FAO team visit Shehu of Bama.

The Food and Agriculture Organization( FAO) and FPMU team paid a courtesy call on the Shehu of Bama, HRH Umar Ibn Kyari Umar El-Kanemi, marks a significant step in efforts to promote agricultural sustainability and community restoration in the region.

The FAO team, led by Engineer Precious Agbesor, sought the Shehu’s blessings and aimed to inform him about the FAO’s initiatives, particularly the deployment of dalfino technology in local government.

Acknowledgment and Support
Engineer Precious Agbesor expressed gratitude for the Shehu’s ongoing support of FAO and the ACReSAL (Accelerating Climate Resilience in Africa) project.

The FAO team requested the Shehu’s continued support for community restoration efforts.

Recognition by the Shehu
HRH Umar Ibn Kyari Umar El-Kanemi praised the contributions made by FAO, highlighting their noticeable impact in the community.

He generously offered a piece of land for further planting of seedlings, reinforcing the partnership between the FAO team and the local community.

The Shehu presented traditional Kanuri attire to the FAO and FPMU ACReSAL team, promoting cultural appreciation and strengthening local ties. This gesture serves to foster goodwill and ensure that the support provided is remembered by the community.

Site Visit Overview:

Inspection of Agricultural Initiatives,the team visited the Umar Ibn Ibrahim Al-Amin El-Kanemi College of Education, Science, and Technology, inspecting the 152 acres of land where 20,000 seedlings were planted.

In a meeting with the Provost, the FAO team discussed the progress of the project and outlined future plans.

It was noted that out of the 20,000 seedlings planted, only 100 failed to mature, indicating a successful growth rate for the initiative.

The collaboration between FAO and Borno ACReSAL is crucial in addressing climate change challenges and enhancing food security in the region. By promoting sustainable agricultural practices and supporting environmental restoration, this initiative plays a vital role in empowering local communities and improving their resilience to climate impacts.
