Task Team Leader (TTL) Agro Climatic Resieliance in Semi Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Nigeria, Dr Joy Iganye Agene has assured the People of Ngamdu Community of Kaga local government in Borno of combatting their arid lands into a wet land that will accomodate farming throughout the year.Dr Joy Iganye Agene stated this while inspecting the project site of Ngamdu erosion and flood control which was part of the ongoing ACReSAL World Bank funded interventions in Borno State.
Task Team Leader Agro Climatic Resieliance in Semi Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Nigeria explained that they will accord the maximum priority to the interventions so that the People of Borno State and Ngamdu in particular will reap the benefits of ACReSAL.
She assured to support Women of the Community to acquire the source livelihood through ACReSAL and other related interventions and also urged the People of the of the area to enrol their Children to School.
Project Engineer ACReSAL Borno State, Engineer Baba Gana Ladan said the Ngamdu flood and erosion control site consist of one thousand one hundred seventy five (1175) metres concreate lane drain which is of three (3) sections.
Engineer Baba Gana Ladan noted that the project with help control Ngamdu from a further flood that might emanate which the concreate drain lane will conceive and channel the flood to the drained site and save lives and properties.
Project Engineer ACReSAL Borno State added that there are other similar project earmarked by World Bank which include flood and erosion control site at Uba town in Askira Uba local government and Biriyel flood and erosion site under Bayo local government area of the State which are all embarked upon to control flood across Borno State.
Borno State Governor, Gana Umara Zulum described the project as a milestone which can contribute to the livelihood and economic growth of the area and commended World Bank for the gesture
The Governor said the project will go along way the post insurgency recovery and stabilization process of his administration which he appeal to the People of Ngamdu to fully utilize the project as the Borno State Government will support in the irrigation farming for a year round.
